Huntsville, Ala., March 5, 2014 — Wolverine’s MicroCool Division has announced the launch of its new MicroCool Tool, an interactive, thermal simulator for cold plates that can be applied to a diverse range of electronic cooling applications including CPU configurations, racks, servers, GPU graphics chips, high-output LEDs, power modules, IGBTs, power semiconductors, and FETs.
“MicroCool Tool provides an invaluable resource for engineers who need to quickly and accurately determine which MDT fin or pin fin geometry will be best suited for their single-phase cooling requirements,” said Peter Beucher, general manager of the MicroCool® Division. “This additional MicroCool® engineering service is made available confidentially, at no cost to thermal engineers around the world.”
MicroCool Tool makes it easy to model accurate and reliable micro-channel design possibilities within minutes. With just a few inputs, the correlation-based software can quickly provide thermal resistance, cold plate, and fluid temperatures, as well as pressure drop performance. The tool also provides a complete graphical output of the thermal simulations (including 3D views) and generates output with graphs and a complete set of data with incremental calculation results.
This online software was developed in conjunction with John Thome, Professor of Heat and Mass Transfer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Thome is recognized as an industry leader in heat transfer and long term author of Wolverine Tube’s “Data Book”, which can be found at www.microcooling.com/technology.
